Transmix

KMP is the largest processor of transmix in the United States, with facilities in Greensboro, N.C., Richmond, Va., Dorsey Junction, Md., Indianola, Pa., Hartford, Ill. and Colton, Calif. Transmix is a by-product of refined products pipeline operations. It is created when different specification products mix during pipeline transportation. Transmix processing plants split the transmix back into specification products, such as gasoline and ultra low sulfur diesel fuel.
